Awoyaya Community Outreach 2026: Raising Influential Leaders

Awoyaya Community Outreach 2026: Raising Influential Leaders

Our annual community outreach in Awoyaya, Lagos State, was a meaningful day of learning, connection, encouragement and giving. This year, we welcomed more than 197 teenagers and created a safe, engaging space where young people could learn, ask questions, receive support and be reminded that their future matters.

The outreach featured educational and empowerment sessions designed to address some of the real challenges teenagers face today.

Key Sessions

Sexual Abuse: Prevention, Recovery and Awareness

Our guest speaker, Mrs Dolapo Adetuyi, a gender-based violence advocate, led an important session on sexual abuse. She helped teenagers understand how to recognise unsafe situations, protect themselves, speak up, seek help and begin the journey of recovery after experiencing abuse.

The session emphasised that abuse is never the victim's fault and that seeking help is a sign of strength.

Academic Difficulties

We also held a practical session focused on academic challenges. Teenagers were encouraged to understand the possible reasons behind academic struggles, develop better learning habits, ask for help when needed and not allow temporary difficulties to define their potential or future.

Educational and Care Packages

As part of the outreach, each teenager received essential items to support their education and personal wellbeing, including:

  • 10 notebooks
  • 2 pens
  • Sanitary pads
  • Detergent
  • Clothes
  • Shoes
  • Snacks and refreshments

In addition to the items distributed, one student was selected to receive a scholarship. This further educational support reinforces our commitment to helping teenagers not only attend school but also have the resources and encouragement they need to thrive.

The People Behind the Impact

The outreach was made possible through the dedication of about 12 volunteers who gave their time, energy and skills to serve the teenagers. From planning and coordination to distribution and interacting with the students, every volunteer played an important role in making the event successful.

We are deeply grateful to our volunteers, guest speaker, supporters, donors and everyone who contributed to making this outreach possible.

At Racheal and Teens Foundation, we believe that reaching teenagers goes beyond giving them material resources. It means equipping them with knowledge, creating safe spaces for honest conversations, supporting their education and helping them develop the confidence to make better choices for their future.
